Congressmen Pete Sessions and Aaron Bean have announced the formation of the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus. The new caucus aims to collaborate with President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency to address issues of waste, fraud, and abuse within the federal government.
Congressman Sessions, who chairs the Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce, emphasized his commitment to eliminating inefficiencies. "As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce, it has been my priority to identify and stop ongoing waste, fraud, and abuse in our government," he stated. He referenced a report from the GAO indicating over $2.7 trillion in fraud and improper payments since 2003 as an unacceptable misuse of taxpayer funds.
Congressman Bean highlighted concerns about national debt, which he noted has exceeded $36 trillion. "Our national debt has surpassed a staggering $36 trillion and should be a wakeup call for all Americans," Bean said. He expressed enthusiasm for President-elect Trump's appointments of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead DOGE but acknowledged that significant challenges lie ahead.
The DOGE Caucus intends to work closely with the Department of Government Efficiency to curb reckless spending and protect taxpayer money.
