Belton Independent School District issued the following announcement.
In an effort to provide the Big Red Community a transparent report on current health conditions at Belton ISD schools, the district launched a COVID-19 dashboard with the start of school last week.
The first positive case in Belton ISD was reported Friday.
District officials hope the factual data from the dashboard will eliminate confusion of actual cases versus people being absent due to quarantine or other illness - or any other of the numerous reasons a person may be absent.
The dashboard is based on a count of active lab-confirmed, positive cases of students and/or staff at a campus conducted by district nurses. It is updated each morning.
Staff and families of students at impacted schools will also be notified by email when a positive case is reported at their campus. Additionally, those identified as being a “close contact” of a student or staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19 will receive a phone call from the campus letting them know and providing instructions about quarantining. Students not identified as being a close contact will not receive a phone call.
The dashboard is located at www.bisd.net/dashboard. Details on Belton ISD’s COVID-19 protocols are available in the district’s response plan at www.bisd.net/responseplan.
