Today, it was announced that Congressman Pete Sessions will continue as chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations within the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Chairman James Comer confirmed the continuation of Sessions' role, which he held during the 118th Congress.
Congressman Sessions expressed his enthusiasm for continuing in this position. "I am excited to continue serving as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform," he stated. He highlighted past efforts such as auditing the Department of Defense and addressing waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars. He emphasized a commitment to bipartisan solutions to ensure government accountability and efficiency.
Chairman James Comer praised Sessions' leadership. "Representative Pete Sessions is a proven leader who will continue to lead our efforts to make the federal government more efficient, effective, transparent, and accountable to the American people," Comer said. He noted Sessions' role in overseeing federal disaster responses and managing taxpayer funds.
During the last Congress, the subcommittee conducted several hearings including topics like improper payments prevention, response to natural disasters such as the 2023 Maui wildfires, oversight of inspector generals' integrity and efficiency council, GAO's duplication report review, addressing post-pandemic agency backlogs, and updates on postal service plans.
