Enrollment at Midway ISD schools increased by 3.6% compared to previous school year

There were 8,739 students enrolled in Midway ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.9% of them were boys, and 49.1% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 52.9% of the Midway ISD total enrollment.

Midway ISD roughly covers schools within McLennan County with its main office in Woodway.

Among the 12 schools in Midway ISD, Midway High School recorded the highest enrollment of 2,648 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
