Washington, D.C. – The House Oversight Committee recently passed H.R. 7524, the GSA Technology Accountability Act, in a move to bring transparency to government technology projects. Congressman Pete Sessions (TX-17), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce, introduced the legislation aimed at implementing critical transparency and oversight measures within the General Services Administration's (GSA) management of taxpayer-funded technology projects.
"I am pleased that the Oversight Committee passed my GSA Technology Accountability Act with strong bipartisan support," expressed Chairman Sessions. He added, "My bill will ensure proper accountability for how taxpayer dollars are invested in GSA technology development going forward." The bipartisan support for the legislation was acknowledged by Chairman Sessions, who stated, "I appreciate the bipartisan support for this commonsense legislation, and I look forward to it advancing further through Congress."
The GSA Technology Accountability Act is designed to enhance congressional oversight and transparency into the GSA's management of taxpayer-funded technology projects. The bill mandates the GSA Administrator to submit an annual report to Congress detailing the allocation and use of funds from the Citizen Services Fund and Acquisition Services Fund, which are the primary sources of funding for the GSA's Technology Transformation Service. These enhanced reporting requirements aim to ensure that taxpayer dollars are used wisely for GSA technology development initiatives in the future.
