There were 14,086 students enrolled in Waco ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 2.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51% of them were boys, and 49% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 60.8% of the Waco ISD total enrollment.

Waco ISD roughly covers schools within McLennan County with its main office in Waco.

Among the 25 schools in Waco ISD, Waco High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,964 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
