Lufkin, TX – In response to the ongoing 2,500 acre Shearwood Creek Fire, Congressman Pete Sessions (TX-17) released the following statement:
"The Shearwood Creek Fire is serious and continues to evolve. I strongly urge all those within the mandatory evacuation zones, from the Neches River to Sam Rayburn Parkway and County Roads 32, 33, and 34, to heed the warnings and evacuate if they have not already. Our brave firefighters and law enforcement officers are on the ground beating back the wildfire. The Dollar General on state Highway 63 west has been designated as an evacuation center, and additional shelters are being set up at various local churches. My office is in contact with local and state agencies, and we stand ready to offer any assistance needed to help our community get through this difficult time. Please stay safe and look out for one another."
