Washington D.C.– With Title 42 expiring at midnight, Congressman Pete Sessions (TX-17) and House Republicans passed H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023, which Sessions also cosponsored. This legislation is a response to the Biden Administration’s lack of action to secure our border – leading to record-breaking illegal crossings at America’s southern border. If enacted, H.R. 2 would secure the border, end the humanitarian crisis, and restore the United States’ sovereignty.
After passing H.R. 2 Congressman Sessions said, “The Biden Administration continues to show a complete lack of respect for the rule of law. They have ignored American interests and jeopardized the safety of U.S. citizens. This administration's decisions have directly resulted in an unprecedented 6 million illegal migrants in the United States since January 2021. H.R. 2 would empower border agents and require the Department of Homeland Security to enforce the law and end this crisis in Texas and across the country.”
