As part of the federal government's effort to stimulate the economy during a time of turmoil in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Department of Commerce has committed $35 million to be given out in grants to organizations across the country.
The 52 recipients were selected from a pool of 600 applicants and among the recipients was Baylor University.
These grants are meant to fund entrepreneurship activities and high-growth economic opportunities to stimulate the economy and reward businesses and industries on the rise.
To be given out on an annual basis, special emphasis is being placed on them in a year that economic growth and stimulus is hard to come by in a flattened economy. With the resources awarded by the grant, the Commerce Department hopes organizations across the country will have the tools that they will need to scale their operation and fund projects that will fuel rapid growth in their business and industry.
