Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas) said a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration will go toward the Hillsboro Municipal Airport.
The $553,500 grant will be used for electrical improvements in the airport, according to a press release from Williams' website. Approved by the Texas Transportation Commission, the airport will replace medium-intensity runway lights and precision approach path indicators (PAPI). The airport will also use funds to install new PAPIs, replace wind cones and replace airfield signs.
“I am proud to announce this $553,500 grant that will greatly benefit the entire Hillsboro community,” Williams said in the press release. “Ensuring our regional airports have adequate funding to address safety and maintenance repairs is crucial to Texas’ economy, now more than ever. While the 25th District has already received much-needed funding for airport improvements, I’m proud to secure greater funding in the CARES Act so that Hillsboro Municipal Airport can continue serving our community to the fullest extent possible.”
