Lost in all the stories of the coronavirus pandemic is that of students, stranded in college towns like Waco.
For many students, returning home when classes were shutdown was not an option. The reasons vary with students who live overseas, students who live in places such as New York where COVID-19 has taken a terrible toll. Others could be trying to keep their families safe due to medical conditions.
For others, what felt like a promising future with a secure job has been washed away in a COVID-19-stricken economy that has claimed 10% of the workforce CNN reported.
In Waco, Baylor students are without their campus refuge, which is closed down.
"I don’t get to just like go to campus with my friends and hang out on Fountain Mall, so it’s really been tough because there’s so much that I wanted to do on my Baylor bucket list,” senior Shae Koharski told FOX44News. “There’s so much stuff I wanted to check off before I graduated and walked across the stage in May, but I’m not going to be able to do that now.”
FOX44 also said Baylor is attempting to move Spring commencement ceremonies to August.
