Enrollment at Riesel ISD schools increased by 5.3% compared to previous school year

There were 656 students enrolled in Riesel ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.5% of them were boys, and 49.5% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 69.2% of the Riesel ISD total enrollment.

Riesel ISD roughly covers schools within McLennan County with its main office in Riesel.

Among the two schools in Riesel ISD, Foster Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 329 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
