There were 1,522 students enrolled in Whitney ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.9% of them were boys, and 48.1% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 68.1% of the Whitney ISD total enrollment.

Whitney ISD roughly covers schools within Hill County with its main office in Whitney.

Among the five schools in Whitney ISD, Whitney High School recorded the highest enrollment of 441 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
