Mcgregor ISD Education: 1,494 students were enrolled in schools in 2021-22 school year

There were 1,494 students enrolled in Mcgregor ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1.1% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.9% of them were boys, and 48.1% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Mcgregor ISD students was Hispanic, accounting for 44.8% of the student population.

Mcgregor ISD roughly covers schools within McLennan County with its main office in Mcgregor.

Among the four schools in Mcgregor ISD, McGregor High School recorded the highest enrollment of 436 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
