Baylor junior transfer Charlotte Brook shot a 4-under-par 68 on April 7, tying her season best and posting the tournament’s lowest round of the day to help the Bears take the lead after two rounds at Texas A&M’s “Mo” Morial golf tournament.
Brook, who was playing in the team lineup for the first time in over two months, recorded birdies on five holes and just one bogey at Traditions Club. Her performance moved her into a tie for second place individually, only one stroke behind Missouri’s Jade Zamora.
“I’m especially proud of Charlotte Brook, who has been playing some really good golf as of late,” Baylor coach Jay Goble said. “But she walked around all day today with confidence and poise, and it’s amazing to see her play as well as she did today.”
Baylor finished Tuesday as the only team under par for the round with a score of 2-under 286 following an opening round of 18-over 306. The Bears now hold a one-shot lead over host Texas A&M at a total score of 16-over-par 592. Missouri sits third at 22-over-par, followed by Tulsa and Kansas.
Senior Bridget Boczar improved from Monday’s play by shooting an even-par-72 after making an eagle in her previous round. Silje Ohma and Yurang Li each carded rounds of one-over-par-73. Malena Castro is tied for fifteenth after struggling early in her second round.
Goble said, “Today was a very good day. To come out and play like this on a really difficult golf course shows that our team can compete with any team in the country on any golf course in the country. We are going to get a little practice in and go get some rest and get ready for a big day tomorrow.”
The final round will be played Wednesday with Baylor paired alongside Texas A&M and Missouri.
