Baylor baseball freshman outfielder Brady Janusek was named to Perfect Game’s Midseason Freshman All-America First Team, according to an announcement on April 1.
The recognition highlights Janusek’s strong performance during the first half of the season. Such awards bring attention to promising new talent and reflect well on both the player and Baylor University’s baseball program.
Janusek has started all 28 games in right field for Baylor, recording a batting average of .327 with an on-base percentage of .422 and a slugging percentage of .591. He has hit six home runs, driven in 24 runs, scored a team-leading 29 runs, and stolen a team-high 10 bases. Janusek has made at least one start in each of the top six spots in the batting order.
He began his college career by reaching base safely in each of his first 18 games. Currently, he is on a nine-game hitting streak—the longest active streak for any Bear—with 14 hits over that span including six extra-base hits. He ranks second on the team with 14 extra-base hits this year.
Before this season began, D1Baseball ranked Janusek as the nation’s No. 53 “Freshman to Know.” His first collegiate hit was a home run against New Mexico State on Feb. 14. On March 10 against Sam Houston, he hit a notable home run measuring 456 feet—the second-longest by any Baylor player this year.
Janusek’s contributions have helped Baylor achieve a record of 16-12 so far this season, including five wins and four losses in Big 12 play. The Bears are currently tied for fourth place in their league standings and will begin a three-game series against BYU starting Thursday, April 2.
